Clay Goodman

Hi, my name is Clay Goodman. I am a singer/songwriter based out of Southwest Virginia. I've been writing songs for a long time now but I made my public debut in early May of 2025 with the release of my song "Hello".

Some of you may have been following me on TikTok or have seen my posts there. Late last year I decided to take a step back from social media and in that time I wrestled with doubt, stress, worry. I thought, "Is it even worth making music anymore?".

My earlier songs that I released were fully produced, rocking tracks. Ever since I was little, I dreamed of being in a group or a band and I've always been trying to fit myself into the role of a "rockstar". 

I've come to terms with accepting that it's okay to not be that person. I am who I am, and that happens to be a sensitive, emotional singer/songwriter with an ear for melodies and lyrics that can hit you in the gut.

While I'm not saying it's forever, I'm changing gears if you will. I'm dropping the fully produced indie rock and power pop sound and I will be solely recording songs super raw, meaning one mic, one take and just me and my guitar and mixing/mastering abilities. 

I am taking on the lineage of "loner folk". Folk and psychedelic music that was recorded in makeshift studios and homes in the 60s and 70s by normal people. 

That is my natural state of songwriting and it takes the pressure off me and allows me to be the truest version of myself as a musician.
