New Single "Listen To The Rain" by Virginia Singer/Songwriter Clay Goodman Releasing 5/22

Hi everyone, Clay Goodman here. It's been several months since I have written a blog post here. After taking several months off and questioning if I was going to make music again, I am back with my new single Listen To The Rain which will be streaming everywhere 5/22. I started releasing my music exactly one year ago. It's a trip to go back and listen to my first track when I didn't have a clue what I was doing and my voice was a lot more laidback. My sound has always sat somewhere between emotional indie folk, power-pop, dreampop and really catchy and melodic pop songs. I think this song encapsulates all of that. The energy of the rocking songs, the emotions of a song like Hello, heartfelt vocals and melodies that work their way in your ears.

I started writing this song in 2020, during peak COVID times. Unlike some songs where I wrote them and hardly changed them, this is one I've changed and chipped away at over the years up until I recorded it a couple of months ago. It was a bit faster at first and the lyrics and melody weren't as smooth. Over time I slowed it down, refined the melody and stripped back the ideas I had to implement a full band bass, drums, electric guitar, etc. sound. Doing those kinds of tracks last time took a lot out of me and I decided to see what would happen if I recorded this one just like I wrote it and all the other songs I've ever written. Just me, my acoustic guitar and my voice. I think it turned out better than any other production of it could have and I am proud of it

I can't wait for you to hear it. It will be streaming on all streaming platforms and anywhere you can purchase music, including here and Bandcamp, on May 22nd. Thank you all for the support over the past year. I can't wait to put more music out and keep moving forward. Love you all.

Heartbreak (The One That You Need) by Clay Goodman Releases in 2 Days on December 12th

Clay Goodman here. It's finally almost time. My new single Heartbreak (The One That You Need) releases in 2 days on December 12th. I've been working on recording this song for months now and I'm so excited that it's finally going to be out there. No matter how many people listen or even if no one ever cares, I am proud of myself for getting this one out because there were many moments where I was about ready to give up. I couldn't get this sounding right, every mix wasn't hitting right, I was having a hard time getting the vocals right. It's not perfect but that's the beauty of it. It's punchy, warm, a little rough around the edges but it's a big step from my first song I released earlier this year.

I wanted to push myself more vocally on this one. My previous tracks I used vocal doubling and didn't get them in the mix as far as I wanted to but this one is present and is one center take. I did all the mixing and mastering on the track as well as playing the instruments and programming drums. I know it may not seem like a lot when you listen to one final 2 minute track, but trust me. It's a lot of work and it can be so exhausting and draining.

The song will be available to stream everywhere on December 12th and you can purchase the track on my Bandcamp or here on my website. Thank you guys for the support you have shown me this year by listening to the songs and interacting on social media. It always brightens my day and makes the younger me who always felt insecure and doubtful, feel absolutely happy and proud.

Hi, all. Clay Goodman here. It's been a little while since I checked in with you all. The past few months have felt like a whirlwind and I've been further behind with my music than I would like, but I am happy and proud of what I have done this past year.

I am keeping this blog post short but just wanted to check in and give an update on my next single. I was originally going to simply title the song “Heartbreak” but have since decided to change the title to “Heartbreak (The One That You Need)”. I am really excited to share this song. It's catchy, sugary and melodic. All about love and heartbreak. Sugary feelings indeed.

The single will be releasing on December 12th on all streaming platforms as usual.

Reflecting On The Release Of Such Fun, Spotlighting Coverage, and Discussing What Is Next To Come

Clay Goodman Such Fun Cover Art

Hey everyone. Clay Goodman here. It's been a little over a week since I released my song Such Fun. So far it's gotten some streams, saves and kind words and reviews from people online and some really cool music blogs. This song means a lot to me as it's the first true song I ever wrote many years ago. I'm currently moving onto the next single I'm about to release which is called "Heartbreak". I just want to go over some of the cool things that happened when I released this song, as well as talk about where I've been mentally since I've been releasing music.

If you have been following along with my posts on social media and my interviews/features in music blogs, you may have noticed me talking a lot about writing this song years ago in 2017. It's a song that I've held to myself for a long time now. While it may not have reached as many people as I've always hoped for, it's felt like a weight off my shoulders being able to say it's out there.

The Big Takeover Logo Link Clay Goodman Such Fun

It's been really fun connecting with people in the industry like playlists, magazines, etc. Some of my favorite features includes the feature of Such Fun in the iconic New York punk/indie magazine The Big Takeover. As Dave Franklin wrote, “Such Fun” is a delicate balancing act—dream-pop delicacy harnessed to a more urgent indie momentum, all while delivering the kind of accessible hooks that remind us pop music once knew how to walk the line between art and appeal.” Hearing someone like that say that about my song is really freaking cool. If you would like to check out the full review, click on The Big Takeover logo above, or you can click here.

I also had a really fun time doing the interview with Indie Boulevard. They asked some really great questions about my past, what inspired my song and what I plan on doing going forward. If you would like to check out that interview, you can click the image above or click here

To close out this look back, I would like to give a shout-out to everyone who has supported me in anyway these past several months. Whether that be my partner, my family and friends, the cool people I've met on social media, the people finding my song on playlists and adding it to their libraries, the few people who have been gracious enough to sign up to my mailing list thus far, you know who you are. Thank you all. This year hasn't been easy, if I'm being honest it has been painful and exhausting. But no matter what happens, this is a year I will never forget and I will cherish it all.

Going forward, I do plan on releasing my next single “Heartbreak” within the next month or so. To reiterate, it is an early 60's Beatles sounding love/breakup song. Very sugary, very pop. It's gonna stay in your head for awhile. If you would like to be added to the Coolest Mailing List Group Ever, that's the real name of my mailing list, you might just get an early sneak peek. If you haven't done so yet, click here to sign up.

Thank you all so much for everything. The kind words, the encouragement and just for sticking around. Love you all. Take care.

"Such Fun", the third single by Clay Goodman, set to release on August 1st, 2025

Hey everyone. Clay Goodman here. I wanted to let you all know that my third single “Such Fun” is set to release on Friday August 1st. It's been a minute since I posted here on the blog and I just want to break down the track some.

“Such Fun” isn't just another single for me. It's the first truly good song I wrote. Well, at least I think it's truly good. I've heard this song floating around my head in acoustic and electric form for going on 10 years now. I first started writing on the song in late 2017. My life was completely different then. I was a headcase, wild child. Always partying and just living life to the fullest.

That's what I love the most about this track. It has heart and spirit. It's a little sarcastic but it's full of hope and in your face.

You can pre-save the track on Spotify and Apple Music by clicking on the album art above or clicking on the direct link here : https://share.amuse.io/track/clay-goodman-such-fun

I have a lot lined up for this release on social media posts, interviews, reviews, etc. This one feels like it's going to be special. For those that see this before release date, thank you. The ones that's been down from the beginning, you all are super important to this. To those that are reading this after the track is released, welcome to the party. Everyone is welcome here and it's an honor to have you. Leave a comment or drop me an email about what you think of the track.

If you would like to stay in touch with me, consider signing up for my email mailing list. You can find the form at the top of my home page or by clicking the link here

If social media is more your thing, consider following me on TikTok and Instagram. You can click both of those or just search @claygoodmanmusic as that is my username for both.

Thank you all so much for the support, encouraging words and comments. It never fails to make me smile and I want you to know that every one of you are appreciated and cared for.

As for now, take care :)

Clay Goodman's Second Single "Set Me Free" available everywhere June 14th 2025

Hey all, Clay Goodman here. I am so excited to share with you that my second single “Set Me Free” is releasing soon on June 14th. I'm super stoked to get this one out there as it is a completely different vibe from the first one. I went a little more all out with this one including pushing my producer brain to the max and rocking out in the chorus. It's a fun track that's carefree and hopeful while also staying chill.

I wrote this one around the end of 2023. It is one of those songs that just came out of nowhere. I started messing around with the chords and somehow in a matter of minutes I had the chorus. I love when music works like that. I can't wait for all of you to hear my new track. Thank you for reading.
